Ok so maybe I’m way off-base here and all but what the heck is going on with our team. The Flyers traded Lupul for Pronger…. now heres the rest of the juicy part.
It was not a straight up trade as it never is, the Flyers traded 2 FIRST ROUND DRAFT PICKS and a conditional 3rd round draft pick in 2010 / 2011 AND SBISA and LUPUL for Chris Pronger and Ryan Dingle who is a prospect.
Heres what I could pull up on Dingle
2006-07 season: After establishing himself as a bona fide goal-scorer in his sophomore season, Ryan Dingle continued to rack up the points for the University of Denver as junior despite slightly lower numbers. The Steamboat Springs, CO native led the Pioneers in goal scoring with 22 and ranked second in overall points with 37. Dingle also led Denver in power-play goals (9), shorthanded goals (2) and co-led the team with four game-winning tallies. He capped his stellar junior season with a selection to the All-WCHA Third Team.
Talent Analysis
Dingle is multi-dimensional. What makes Dingle so special is the fact that he is equally skilled in both offensive and defensive situations. He is just as comfortable as a goal-scorer as he is playing as a defensive forward. Where this was particularly evident was on special teams. Dingle is a player with great hockey sense and superb on-ice vision. He has the ability to not only find open spaces on the ice but use it to his advantage as well. He anticipates and follows plays remarkably well regardless of which end of the ice it’s in. Dingle possesses a fairly accurate shot with a quick release and picks his spots quite well. His skating combines smoothness with speed. He’s a tough competitor with a never-say-die attitude. One area where Dingle was really effective for Denver this past season was on draws. He became the Pioneers’ faceoff specialist. The biggest issue for Dingle may be his size. At 5’10, he won’t be able to power his way through opposing players. He’ll need to rely on his speed, strength and persistence if he hopes to be successful at the pro level.
He better be a lot better then he makes this out to be. I will have one of our other guys here at HBN post more on this. I don’t know much about prospects.
Although I’m not very happy that we traded 2 FIRST ROUND draft picks away wtf.
