5 straight games. Thats our winning streak right now while the best team in the Majors for scoring runs and hitting homeruns showed why last night. Putting up 10 runs against the Padres before then got a bit lax and allowed 5. Antonio Bastardo (the new kid) that no one really knew how he would do did JUST FINE as he came in and went 6 innings giving up 4 hits one of which being a home-run to Gonzalez (who I must add like Ryan Howard, is a BEAST). Bastardo had 5 strike outs on 1 walk, and all of this from an un-drafted prospect. Who knows maybe this kid will have a miracle year. Doubt it but hey, one never knows.
And speaking of a miracle year what about Raul Ibanez. Holy crap he makes it look like the best off-season pick-up in YEARS. I guess when you put one hitter with other hitters that is on a team that actually scores every now and then he does really well. Go figure who would of known. In all honesty though I was pretty excited that we got Raul, I thought to myself this is a GOOD pick-up. Not great, not horrible but very very solid. With Raul you know what your getting. But I nor did anyone else I would imagine expected this from him. Not at all the guy is batting .340 with 51 RBI’s and 19 jacks so far…..that’s jaw dropping. Good for you Raul for you.
Well Phillies 1 more win and we can pick up the double sweep here. I’m excited to see Happ go again tonight maybe these young guys can give us some spark we need in our bullpen!
Oh on a side note, Peavy, I think you should 2nd think your whole “I wouldn’t want to play for Philadelphia”. The team you don’t want to play for just embarrassed you last night. 1 inning….really? 1 inning what a strong performance they got out of you last night. Looks really good for your trade value! Keep it up hoss!
