Today we’re going to look at the future of the Philadelphia Flyers, the 2nd overall pick of the 2006 draft and left winger from the University of New Hampshire, 20 year old James vanRiemsdyk. After two years of collegiate hockey, vanRiemsdyk signed a contract with the Philadelphia Phantoms for the stretch run (hopefully, it’s the last time we see him down there). During his two years with New Hampshire, he led the Wildcats in scoring and assists, with 17 goals and 23 assists in 40 games for 2008. He is currently ranked as the 11th best prospect in hockey according to hockeysfuture.com. Link… http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/james_vanriemsdyk
VanRiemsdyk has been compared to former Flyer great John LeClair with a little more speed, he’s a very talented type of goalscorer being able to dangle like Giroux, yet drive like Knuble. very similar to Rick Nash. One things for sure, he’ll be an asset for the Flyers for a long, long time. Check Out This Awesome Goal
