Questions received about the “DRAFT VALUE”

So I’ve been hearing numerous questions about the Draft, and the Draft Value.  Well Mike Florio over at ProFootballTalk.com came out with a great little tidbit about it.  I will post it below.  First off, I am not one for trading up, I love our position that we are in and I say we do everything within our power to go out and get Chad Ocho Cinco and Jason Peter’s then we try our hardest to keep our 2 first rounders and Draft a RB and a ILB in the 1st round.  Then trade up some of our 5th & 6th rounders for a possible 3rd and try to address a good TE then.

Here’s what Florio had to say over there, thanks for posting this Mike.  You’re advice and knowledge is top notch as always!

“Last year at this time, we heard that the so-called draft trade chart was undergoing a minor overhaul, primarily at the top of the draft.

We proposed a new chart last year, right here.

A separate revised trade chart was developed by some teams, and pushed publicly by the Eagles.

Some league insiders thought that the revised chart was a creation of teams that wanted to trade up, and to give up less in order to get there. One league source claimed that the Eagles specifically were hoping to move into the top ten, from the nineteenth overall selection, at a lower price.

This year, we’re hearing that multiple teams in the top ten are actively trying to trade down, and that they are asking for far less than the original trade chart would require.

So maybe that’s the way the trade chart will change — not by punching in new numbers in a vacuum, but via multiple trades that go down for less compensation than the trade chart would require.

For more on the trade chart and what it is, we give you a little PFTV. So turn on the speakers, or read our lips.”

Here’s his video about it!
