Flyers outlook

Well you know what I was really thinking about this today while watching the Phillies blow a lead and lose here in Cinci. And it got me thinking….

First lets take a look at our potential Goalies out there when the market opens.

*this is not everyone i left out some goalies that are ahl goalies whos rights are up but did not feel like listing them. This list is the teams that they were on at the start of the year.

Now I put in BOLD the people that I feel may be worth it. Now breaking it down more. The people in pure bold are the ones that I feel could come in today and make this team a better team assuming that we resign Coburn and get another top tier Dman 2nd line worthy.

Nabby, Turco, Tho, and Ellis could come in there and have an instant impact on this team and very well could ride us right into getting home ice next year. And lets not kid having Bouch as a backup is a decent pick for me. Now lets breakdown this past draft and the Flyers outlook..

First off 18 teams asked about Carter (from what Philly.com was reporting) at the draft, they all know Giroux is off limits no matter what. Second- We want a goalie that is 35 bc of cap savings and we think one of the 3 rookies goalies we have will be good. And who better to learn from then a Turco or Nabakov right? … We still need to trade a high priced salary (Hartnell if he would waive his NTC) and then we can sign another D with a goalie. We arent trading Carter! you tell me where you will get the 30 and maybe even 40 goals from when he leaves? leino and giroux are not adding 20 goals to their totals, briere never makes it through a whole regular season. And Richards is a setup man while Gags could be close to 30, if he stays healthy a full season which he has not done in quite some time.

As I stated above the Flyers really believe that 1 of these 3 goalies they picked up lately will be the Future of this team. So if you cannot sign Nabakov or Turco (which would be at the league age salary discount!!) then yes I fully look to see the Flyers offer Leighton a contract. Leighton has stated already that his #1 choice is to stay with the Flyers.

Either way I expect the Flyers to get a very good defensive player out there in FA.
