A video was just posted on philly.com with sports writer from The Daily News stating that he feels very strongly that midway through the season (no later than week 10) that Kevin Kolb will be replaced by Michael Vick as the face of the franchise. I had to chuckle while he continued to make his case.
Me personally? I don’t see it. I believe the ONLY reason the Eagles brought in Michael Vick was to get a low risk, high value trade option. Unfortunately that trade option fell through and they continue with the Vick Project. I believe that if the opportunity would have risen then Vick would no longer be with the Eagles. This opportunity didn’t present itself in draft picks this year, so we will attempt to use him throughout the year as a possible backup QB and a red zone option with the wildcat formation.
I had to laugh to myself because if people thought McNabb had little or no accuracy in the west coast offense; what do you think Vick would look like running the offense for 4 quarters. I think he shows flashes of being an adequate QB and an amazing athlete, but definitely not the face of the franchise. Those days are long gone and will never be……. I don’t feel he was ever a good franchise QB, but the 24 hour sports hype machine ESPN and NFL merchandise turned him into a cash cow. True NFL fans know that this was all he ever was. I don’t believe the Eagles would be this foolish to trade McNabb away to a division rival to later replace him with an overrated, aged, criminal, second chance QB.
I guess we will see…………
