Free agent talk…

Theres a nice little website that I found about all free agents that are available for 2010 (this upcoming year)  Which Free Agency for the NFL opens for a scheduled start date on February 27th.  At that point, let the games begin…..It will be interesting who will make the first “SPLASH” this year like how the Redskins did last year with Fat Albert the 100 million dollar man.

Regardless I compiled a list of people that I would love for the Iggles to go out and get.  These are the positions that I feel we will need to full-fill.

RB – Since losing Brian we need someone that can be a proven back-up or enter a time share.
Saftey – Although the FO seems to love Demps and Mikel, personally I sure hope they acquire at least 1 big name out there
DE – We need someone to help out on Trent Cole’s other side, the crew we have now is not getting it done.  I think we will too.
LB – Although we have Bradley back this year, we need someone on his other side, our LB corp is WEAK

Now stating that here is the list of people that I have come up with myself that I feel would be a possible good pick up for the Eagles.

Lets start in order.  Running back position.  The Eagles could go two ways here..  The way of adding that “bruiser” like the Cowboys and Giants have (good for us they dont use them properly), or just go with pure speed that also have good hands for the screen situations.  Here’s my little list I came up with… for all of these “list’s” these are people I would not mind seeing in an Eagles uniform.

Hard in your face hitters
Le’Ron McClain – although he is restricted he would be a big body that will move lines.
Larry Johnson – a true scumbag doubt they would roll the dice, but a big body that moves chains
Adrian Peterson (chill, from da BEARS) – guy is a beast though
LenDale White – what?  put that weight back on boy!

Some of your fast and shifty guys:
Jerome Harrison – proved in his chance this year he can be the go to guy, expect Browns to sign him though
Jerious Norwood – hes quick but so injury prone, always hurt
Leon Washington – some people I think forgot about him….. although he wants to get PAID

Now onto the LineBackers.  Like I said while Stewart Bradley is great and I cannot wait for him to come back we need someone along the side of him that is a proven tackling machine or even a great pass rusher.  For this list I compiled I would be more then happy with ANY of these guys:
Available LineBackers:
Carlos Dansby –  I love the fact he can rush the QB too
Thomas Davis – what an amazing TRUE tackling m
Elvis Dumervil
D’Qwell Jackson
Aaron Kampman
Shawne Merriman (not to sure how i feel about him though)
Barrett Ruud (who i like a lot)

Now moving on to helping out our boy Trent Cole.  If we can get someone in there that is a TRUE pass rusher then we are in business…I really honestly do not see the Eagles not going out there and trying to get Peppers and to be honest with you I would be surprised if he lands else where.  But if the Eagles do not get Peppers only 1 person really comes to mind that I like.
The only other DE I like outside of PEPPERS:
Kyle Vanden Bosch

Carrying on to safeties….Like I said above I do not expect the Eagles to go out there and pick up someone in the FA market, I would be surprised it they did…but if they are going to get someone I would love to see them get one of the following
Heres some of the safeties:
Oshiomogho Atogwe – I dont think he will be reachable, will demand to get PAID
George Wilson – I like him A LOT, he will not desire big pay, good player
Bernard Pollard – Quick, gets to the ball fast
Nick Collins – Look at his stats, that says it all
Antoine Bethea – a GOOD hitter…something we need

Now some of these guys are an unrestricted free agent who will become a restricted free agent if the NFL and Players’ Union don’t reach agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement by March 1, 2010.

I know there is still a long way to go, but always nice to stir this pot and get minds thinking.  I love this time of the year, cannot wait for Feb 27th.  Keep your eyes peeled.
