Eagles day 2 draft Scouting Reports

Ok so this post is just dedicated to the 2 players that the Eagles Drafted day 2 of the draft.

2nd round pick S – Nate Allen
3rd round pick DE – Daniel Te’o-Nesheim

Safety – Nate Allen – South Florida – Height: 6-0. Weight: 207

Strengths:
Solid height with great bulk
Three-year starter
Playmaker and highly productive
Takes good angles in run support
Fluid hips
Ballhawk who can change a game
Centerfielder range
Highly instinctive
Physical tackler
Underrated athlete
Eliminates space quickly
Low in backpedal; nice technician
Uses hands well to shed blocks in run support
Good route recognition
Vocal leader on defense; team captain
Great all-around skill set for a free safety
Weaknesses:
Lacks great straight-line speed
Tends to struggle in man coverage where he has to turn and run
Not a violent threat in deep half/over middle
Doesn’t have superstar potential
Summary: Nate Allen has been a favorite of mine all year. Some guys just find ways to make plays despite average measureables. I expect Allen to win a starting job quickly in his career. He’s a prototypical free safety who is clean off the field and has a reportedly great work ethic. I expect Allen to come off the board between picks 35 and 70.’

HomeBoyzNetwork OutLook: Allen will be a FAN FAV once Philly sees him in his first 2 games.  This kid has a motor that does not die, when its 4th quarter and your back is up against the wall he will be the one that still looks as if the game just started.   This kid can hit, and man do I mean he can HIT.  He is the type of player that on the grid-iron is very vocal, he will lead with his actions and back them up with his voice while getting his teammates pumped up in the process.  I know its hard to compare anyone to Brian Dawkins, but this is as close as we are going to get to him.  As I said I fully expect him to start and have an impact on this team immediately.  He is a great open field tackler and will not shy away from hits.  He can shed blocks very well and has also been known to throw a good blitz now and then.  This kid really is a great all around player, he is not AMAZING at one thing rather more very very good at EVERYHTHING.  Also his football IQ is very good, he knows how to read a QB and digest a play on the fly.  While he may not have the top end speed he has  great closing speed.  Again as I said I expect this kid to be a starter from day one.

Now tell me that kid doesn’t remind you of someone that wore #20 not too long ago. Speaking of Numbers, Nate Allen always wore #5, I wonder what number he will use now? I believe no one will wear #5 ever again for the Eagles.

Onto the Eagles 2nd pick of the day.

DE / OLB – Daniel Te’o-Nesheim – Washington – Height: 6-3. Weight:263

Now I do not have much on this kid but the past 3 years his sack numbers have looked like this. 8.5 / 8 / 11.  I will post what Washington Univ has on their website.

HomeboyzNetwork outlook: Like I said I do not have much info on this kid, as theres really not that much out there as far as a scouting report goes.  But what I do know is this, the website that I trust the most for info such as this “WalterFootball.com” has DTN (as hes being called) ranked as the 10th best 4-3 DE in the draft.  They have him going in the 2nd – 3rd round, right where he went.  What I did notice about this kid watching the film is that he played in a 4-3 defense in Washington, and will continue doing that here, but the interesting thing that I noticed was not only did he line-up playing DE and LB but this kid also played a lot of DT as well.  Which brings up an interesting conversation I know this kid is undersized to be a DT but he sure has a lot of the signs of being a great DT.  Just my 2 cents thrown in.  Will be interesting to see how the Eagles play this kid.
