Eagles get LB Ernie Sims

Eagles receive Ernie Sims from the Detroit Lions. Tony Scheffler to Lions, 5th round pick to Broncos. Just got the update on my phone from ESPN. Adam Schefter reporting.

Wow this is HUGE… what a great move for the Eagles… We pretty much got Ernie Sims for the same price as Chris GoCong….thats AMAZING. Great move on the Eagles part right here this really makes me happy that they went out and did this.

Some of you may be sitting here thinking, ok Ernie Sims… But lets take a minute and look at him he is Height: 6-0 Weight: 230 Age: 25 so he fits the script to the Eagles game plan. Young and good. Already entering his 5th year into the pros and if you look at his numbers, hes a tackling machine that plays OLB and in this defensive scheme he should be close to about 150+ tackles from this kid.

Took part in 2006 Rookie Night at Lions Quarterback Club.
Participated in the 2007 Lions Pet Calendar that helps to raise money for the Dearborn Animal Shelter.
Animal enthusiast who has a special affinity to exotic critters, and has set up quite an elaborate animal kingdom of his own in his home that includes lighted, temperature-controlled cages.

Led the Eagles to four state championships (1998-2001) during his five-year career and as a senior rushed for three touchdowns in the Class A state championship game.

Father, Ernie Jr., played football at Florida State as a running back for head coach Bobby Bowden (1977-81) while his mother, the former Alice Bennett, was an All-American sprinter on the Seminole track team from 1980-83.
Brother, Marcus, a standout running back at North Florida Christian High, recently signed a letter of intent to play football at Florida State in 2006.
Wore jersey No. 34, which was retired in honor of former Seminole great Ron Sellers. With Sellers’ permission, the number was brought out of retirement at the request of the Seminole coaching staff.
