Phillies back-up plan

According to Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com, the Phillies had a scout in Detroit Thursday watching Mariners left-hander Jarrod Washburn.
Washburn is 4-1 with a 1.47 ERA in five starts during the month of July and blanked the Tigers for seven innings Thursday .”He was as good as he’s been in four or five years,” said a scout from a different club. “He’s never used the sinker the way he’s using it now.” The Phillies probably see the left-hander as a backup plan in case their Roy Halladay talks go nowhere.

That bit coming from rotoworld.  We will see what the Phillies plan to do regardless.  Hopefully they make a move without having to give up half of the farm.  If they don’t do anything I have a sneaking guess that Brett Myers is doing better than we all think!
