Well I don’t know if many of you had the chance to check out the Phillies series against the Red Sox but as I predicted I thought we would get 1 game out of this series. And luckily for us the Mets ran into a subway series which they only won 1 game in as well. Was very glad to see us play the Sox well and personally we should of won 2 out of 3 of those games. Game 1 – We lost this game…but did we really lose it? I thought they (MLB) brought INSTANT REPLAY in affect for a reason. Apparently I was wrong, as this game showed. Dobbs cracked a home-run in the 11th inning but the first base umpire called it foul. Charlie Manuel stormed (as best as Charlie could) out to talk to the umpire……“He said he stayed on it all the way and it was foul,” Manuel said, referring to his conversation with first-base umpire Jim Joyce. Well after looking at it many times on replay it sure as heck was not foul. We should of won this game but ended up losing it to a score of 5-2 after the Red Sox tagged on 3 runs in the top of the 13th inning. I guess you could say that foul ball took the wind right out of our sails. We may not of even deserved to go into extra innings though, thanks to Ryan Howard who sent a long-ball in the bottom of the 9th to tie it up! Game 2 – was one of those “WHAT THE HELL” type of a game. Boston opened up the flood gates on Bastardo. Just when I was thinking this kid has a chance to go 3-0 and if he can pitch well off this Red Hot (no pun) Boston team then sky could be the limit. Well sky was not the limit at all, to be honest 1 inning was the limit as he go pulled after giving up 5 runs in the first. One of those games that you just sit there and say this is one of those nights. Well gotta hand it to the Phillies they battled back. The pulled within 1 run, before Boston went off again and decided to rack up another 3 runs in the top of the 5th inning. From there it was pretty much game over. While the score ended up in a 11-6 win for the Sox the Phillies still showed a bit of “were not laying down” that they have always had. Good to see that no lead is safe against this Phillies team. Game 3 – Now this was a great baseball game. A game that it just a good battle. I loved nothing more then seeing Beckett get the loss in this game and watching him cursing on the mound while the Cameras tried to pan out the most of it. He was one ticked off little pitcher. He showed his frustration when he swung the bat in the top of the of the 6th inning by cracking his own home-run to tie the game. But that was not enough for the Phillies as they were not allowing the Red Sox to sweep them. Phillies reminded the Sox why they are the WORLD CHAMPS as they rang up 6 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning. Beckett got pulled after that and sat on the bench with his head down. Phillies ended up winning by what they got beat by the night before 11-6. We now open up a 3 game home stand against Tronto Blue Jays who have been blazing hot right now too. Maybe we can take 2 from them and start improving upon our home record.
