Well Eric Bruntlett is no longer a Phillie, and if you have been reading what I have been saying then you will see Phills did well here. We needed to Axe him he is a good defensive player but just doesnt cut it when we need his bat. Also why resign him when Fransisco is coming back too? Smart move here I like it and as I predicted…. lets see what happens but I will say it again
3b – Phillies will get one, I honestly believe they want Beltre or DeRosa which both will Cost some dollars.
DH – Phillies will look to get someone DECENT to play both sides of the ball here.
Pitcher – depending on if they feel the next prodical son Kyle Drabek is going to make it happen, I could see Philliy going out there and fullfilling this position. Im not quite sure though that they won’t wait mid-seasons and make a play on Roy Holliday too though, so do not exclude that out of the mix.
Bullpen – Look for the Phillies to go out there and get at least 1 semi-big name in the bullpen area. Maybe a setup guy for Lidge who knows but I feel they will splash some money here. They will prob end up signing or bringing in 2-3 relief / setup between the 2.
Catcher – While we all love CHOOCH (Ruiz for you rookie fans) I believe the Phillies will go out and try to find themselves a good backup catcher, someone better then Bako for sure.
All that being said we will see how this all unfolds within the next couple of months, lets not forget, as silly as it sounds Spring Training is right around the corner.
In other news JA HAPP JUST missed out on the Rookie of the Year award. Chris Coghlan took it away from him. Coghlan, 24, batted .321, with 9 home runs, a .390 on-base percentage and .460 slugging percentage. His 113 hits and .370 batting average after the all-star break led the major leagues. Coghlan received 17 of the 32 first-place votes, and finished with 105 points. Happ collected 10 first-place votes and 94 points.
